Provincial Executive Meeting
Sept 14, 15, 2007

The meeting was held on September 14 (1/2 day) and 15 at Headquarters, Edmonton, Alberta with President Knight in the Chair.

Regular reports by the President, Vice-Presidents and Committees were given.

A number of financial donations were approved:

  1. Purchase of documentary DVD on the housing crisis in Alberta;
  2. Donation to Family Violence Conference;
  3. 2 Members from Members Benefits Committee be sent to Family Violence Conference at AUPE expense;
  4. Contribution to Public Interest Alberta project that targets involving youth in municipal elections throughout the province;
  5. Donation to Aspen Foundation for Labour Education curriculum.

The Provincial Executive reviewed the Audited Financial Statements with the auditor and voted to forward them on to Convention 2007.

The Anti-Privatization Committee advised a seminar was being held on September 27, 2007.

The following Policy was amended:
1. Policy 15-11 Guidelines for Standing Committees.

As well, the following Motion was passed:
1. 13 Life Memberships were approved and will be presented at Convention.

The Provincial Executive observed a presentation on the Proposed Advertising Plan arising from a 2005 Resolution from Convention for a Public Relations Campaign showcasing quality public services. The Provincial Executive voted unanimously to plan for and reach for a $1 million campaign with contributions coming from each Local.

The next meeting is scheduled for October 24-27 (pre-Convention) in Edmonton.

The meeting adjourned at 12:16 p.m on day 2 of the PE meeting.
