Provincial Executive Meeting
Oct 24, 2007

The Provincial Executive meeting was held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Coast Terrace Inn, Edmonton, Alberta followed by Convention concluding on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at which time PE adjourned.

The Legislative Committee brought forward Resolutions from the Membership Services Committee for the Provincial Executive to determine whether they should proceed to Convention 2007. The Committee did not follow a Motion passed at a March 2000 PE meeting and further reiterated in a letter of February 09, 2007 requesting that all Resolutions must be accompanied by the Minutes of the component meeting where the resolution was approved. The Provincial Executive by roll call vote elected to forward these resolutions to Convention.

As well, Resolutions from the Human Rights Committee were put before the Provincial Executive to determine whether they should proceed to Convention. These Resolutions were not received by the due date in the President’s Office as per Article 6.13 of he Constitution. The Provincial Executive by roll call vote elected to not forward these Resolutions to Convention.

The following Policies were amended:
1. Policy 3-3 Policy on Grievance Handling for Union Stewards and Union Representatives and Membership Services Officers (MSO);

2. Policy 3-7 Recruitment of Union Stewards;

3. Policy 3-10 Policy on Union Steward Training.
The Pay Equity Committee wished to have a Resolution submitted as an emergent Resolution dealing with social justice issues. The Provincial Executive defeated this request as it was not deemed of an urgent nature and recommended the new Pay Equity Committee forward this matter to them in the future.

The Provincial Executive did not reconvene through Convention and adjourned at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, October 27, 2007
The next meeting is scheduled for December 1st, 2007, Edmonton, Alberta.
