Provincial Executive Meeting
October 22-25, 2003

The Provincial Executive meeting was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Centre followed by Convention which concluded on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at which time PE adjourned.

A motion to support the Annual Poppy Fund Campaign and purchase wreaths for the Regional Offices and Headquarters to be placed at each respective Cenotaph was adopted.

The President asked that Locals look at getting donations together for the A Channel members on strike. He also advised that buses will be going to the picket line on Friday following Convention. As well, AUPE has hired a number of strikers as casuals and were to assist leading up to and at Convention.

A motion was referred to the Finance Committee with direction to explore making a donation to a Veteran’s Association that encompasses all Alberta.

The President advised a letter had been received from the Alberta Federation of Labour and the Alberta Teacher's Association with respect to the Public Interest Network and a founding meeting to be held on November 8th in Edmonton. This issue will be discussed with the AUPE Executive with a recommendation to have a representative at the meeting and report to the next PE meeting.

Possibly new criteria will need to be developed in complying with requests from organizations for donations.
The new PE members were advised that the PE meeting would recess as the Provincial Executive sits through the entire Convention and will be called upon if anything arises and at the end of Convention will meet to adjourn.

The Provincial Executive adjourned on Saturday, October 25, 2003.
