About the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)
Provincial Executive Meeting
June 22, 23, 2007
The meeting was held on June 22 and 23 In Calgary, Alberta with
President Knight in the Chair.
Regular reports by the President, Vice-Presidents and Committees
were given.
Some discussion ensued whether to place the AUPE Policy & Procedure
Manual on-line. The Membership Services Committee will be reviewing
this further.
As well, the following Motions were passed:
- . That AUPE sponsor a refreshment break at
the CCSA conference;
- A recommendation that any successful AUPE
members selected to attend the 2008 Governor General's Canadian
Leadership
Conference may submit a request for funding to Union Headquarters;
- The proposed 2007/2008 Budget was accepted.
- A course for AUPE volunteer translators (to
include contract interpretation and roles and responsibilities
in the
Basic Union Steward Course) at Headquarters expense will
proceed.
- The Membership Services' Committee will create
and produce a new advertising publication.
- Servus Credit Union has been accepted as part
of the AUPE Discount program.
- Policy 15-11 Guidelines for Standing Committees
has been referred to the Legislative Committee.
- That AUPE staff resources and/or funding for
independent research be provided to produce a
statistical analysis
of relative wage
levels of AUPE members for the Pay Equity Committee.
Policy 5-32 Policy on Negotiating Team Size was
amended.
Policy 3-6 on Seminars, Conferences and Ad
Hoc Courses was referred back to the Finance
Committee
to consult
with a
newly struck
Ad Hoc Committee consisting of a member from each
Sector. Policy 5-3 Area Councils Rebates and Accountability was amended.
Policy 20-1 AUPE Strike Policy was amended.
Policy 5-18 Hotel Accommodations, was amended.
Policy 14-4 Political Donations was amended
The Provincial Executive drew the numbers for the table seating
for the 2007 Convention as to where in the Convention Hall
each Local will sit.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 14 and 15 in Edmonton.
The meeting adjourned at 2:23 p.m.
