Provincial Executive Meeting
June 18, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 9:07 A.M in Edmonton, Alberta with President MacLennan in the Chair.

A presentation by Special Olympics Alberta was made to the PE asking for support in their Province-wide promotion of Special Olympics 25th Anniversary. The PE supported a decision to sponsor the anniversary. As well, a donation was made to the Claresholm Spraypark.

A Policy is to be developed recognizing particular days i.e. National Aboriginal Day, etc. The amendments to the Human Rights Policies were tabled to the next PE meeting. A number of new participants were approved for the Discount List. The Membership Services’ Committee is to review the policy for presentation of long service pins.

Locals and Area Councils will be notified as to whether they wish to be involved in a Local/Union website project linking Locals and Area Councils to the AUPE website. If interested, they are to contact the President in writing or via e-mail by the end of July 2005.

PE approved life membership to be awarded to Peggy Stewart at Convention 2005.

The proposed 2005-2006 budget was reviewed with the PE and forwarded to Convention 2005.

Locals are encouraged to participate in the AUPE Golf Tournament as well contribute with door prizes, etc. Local 046 challenged all other Locals to meet or beat their donation of $500. A number of Locals indicated they have already forwarded support for the tournament.

The next regularly scheduled meeting is scheduled for September 9 and 10 at AUPE Headquarters.

The meeting adjourned at 11:50 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2005.
