About the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)
Provincial Executive Meeting
February 10, 2007
The meeting was held on February 10 and was called to order at
9:19 A.M. in Edmonton, Alberta with President Knight in the Chair.
Regular reports by the President, Vice-Presidents and Committees
were given.
The Provincial Executive passed a motion to forward the PE package
and Minutes on to their Local Executives.
As well, the following Motions were passed:
- That the Finance Committee review the present
Strike Policy with a recommendation to increase the strike pay
to $40.00.
- To donate $2500 to the May Week Labour Arts
Festival committed to youth involvement.
- A Health Care Sector Conference will proceed on December 3
and 4, 2007.
- Renovations will commence on the 2nd floor
at Headquarters.
- A Day of Mourning Ceremony to be held on Saturday,
April 28, 2007.
- To enter into a memorandum of understanding
for the period of one year with Partnerships in Health and
Safety.
A number of Policies were amended:
Policy 5-20 Reimbursement for Child Care Expenses
Policy 10-11 Policy on Confidentiality of Membership Lists
A new Policy on Seminars, Conferences and Ad Hoc Courses was brought
forward and discussed and referred back to the Finance Committee
with direction. As well, a Policy on Negotiating Team Size was
brought forward and referred back to the Finance Committee with
direction. Any suggestions, on amendments to these Policies are
to be forwarded to Executive Secretary-Treasurer Dechant.
More volunteers are needed for the ‘Change the Law’ Campaign.
The President asked for examples of Privatization and/or Contracting
Out affecting our members to be brought forward to the next PE
meeting.
The next meeting is scheduled for April 21 in Edmonton.
