Malcolm McNaughton
Union Representative
Malcolm “Mac” McNaughton
currently works as a Union Representative in the Negotiations Section
at AUPE Headquarters in Edmonton.
As a Union Representative, he is responsible for bargaining a variety
of collective agreements and for Labour Relations Board matters. McNaughton
also often instructs courses at AUPE’s annual Labour Education
School.
McNaughton joined AUPE's staff in Red Deer in 1981. Since then, he
has worked for AUPE in Red Deer and Edmonton. In the past, he has served
as a Union Steward and Provincial Executive member. He takes particular
pride in his role in the auxiliary nurses’ strike in Edmonton
in March 1998. The two-day action led up to the provincial strike in
May 2000 that involving auxiliary nursing care workers from AUPE.
McNaughton’s bargaining responsibilities include bargaining units
in each of AUPE’s four sectors.
