Biographies
Scott Pattison
Communications Technical Assistant

Scott Pattison joined AUPE as a Communications Technical Assistant in March 2004. He is responsible for assisting with the writing and preparation of such AUPE publications as Direct Impact, Steward Notes, and the AUPE Web site.

Pattison came to AUPE from The Edmonton Journal, where he worked as a Copy/Design Editor. His journalism career spans 16 years working for print corporations across Canada including CanWest, Sun Media, Thomson Newspapers and Horizon Publications. He has held positions at various publications including Senior Reporter, Assistant-Sports Editor, Sports Editor, Copy Editor, Design Editor and Editor-in-Chief.

Pattison has captured 13 (individual and team) writing, layout and design awards in his career, including the Canadian Association of Journalists’ Investigative Award and Thomson Newspapers’ North American Best Series Award. He has also taught journalism at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton and worked briefly as a member of the electronic media for CBC Radio.

Pattison has been an active member, steward and bargaining committee representative of several other unions, including the Canadian Auto Workers, United Steelworkers of America and the Communications Energy and Paperworkers.

He holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications from the University of Windsor, located in Windsor, Ont. His investigative journalism work has also been documented in a book published by The British Columbia Press Council titled, For The Record, a 200-page collection of newspaper stories that had an impact on Canadian society.
