Biographies
Aaron Mireau
Membership Services Officer Edmonton City Centre
Aaron
Mireau joined AUPE as the unions Research Officer in November
2002. In 2007, Aaron assumed MSO responsibilities, working
out of the union's City Centre Office in downtown Edmonton.
Born in Victoria, B.C., Mireau most recently worked as a Labour Relations
Analyst with the Industrial, Wood and Allied Workers of Canada in Vancouver.
His duties with IWA Canada included participation in negotiating collective
bargaining, administering agreements, providing analysis of arbitrations,
instructing union education courses and conducting research.
Mireau also worked in Vancouver as a Labour Relations Researcher with
Forest Industrial Relations Ltd., an employer group. There he reviewed
more than 500 arbitration cases involving contracting-out in the forest
industry and performed comparative analysis of collective agreements.
Mireau has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British
Columbia, and a strong command of the Japanese language he lived
and worked in Japan for more than a year and a half.
Mireau has a blue belt in kickboxing and, since he worked in a restaurant
kitchen during part of his time in Japan, is reputed to be a pretty
good cook.
