About the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)

Biographies
Aaron Mireau
Membership Services Officer – Edmonton City Centre

Aaron Mireau joined AUPE as the union’s Research Officer in November 2002. In 2007, Aaron assumed MSO responsibilities, working out of the union's City Centre Office in downtown Edmonton.

Born in Victoria, B.C., Mireau most recently worked as a Labour Relations Analyst with the Industrial, Wood and Allied Workers of Canada in Vancouver. His duties with IWA Canada included participation in negotiating collective bargaining, administering agreements, providing analysis of arbitrations, instructing union education courses and conducting research.

Mireau also worked in Vancouver as a Labour Relations Researcher with Forest Industrial Relations Ltd., an employer group. There he reviewed more than 500 arbitration cases involving contracting-out in the forest industry and performed comparative analysis of collective agreements.

Mireau has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, and a strong command of the Japanese language – he lived and worked in Japan for more than a year and a half.

Mireau has a blue belt in kickboxing and, since he worked in a restaurant kitchen during part of his time in Japan, is reputed to be a pretty good cook.
