Young activist joins information picket
Sixteen-month-old Rylee was the youngest picketer outside Revera Jasper Place continuing care facility. About 100 AUPE members and supporters staged an information picket at the facility.
Another picket is planned for Revera Miller Crossing, 14251 50 St., on Friday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
After months of exhaustive collective bargaining, AUPE has applied to the provincial government for mediation. Revera, a multinational corporation, is trying to freeze wages, cut back on health benefit contributions (effectively cutting pay) and eliminate job security provisions.
