Labour Day Message from AUPE President
AUPE President Guy Smith issued the following statement to the media to recognize Labour Day:
Today is Labour Day, the much-enjoyed holiday given to all Canadians by the Canadian labour movement’s struggle to repeal laws prohibiting unions in the 1870s. This long weekend families and friends come together for one last summer barbeque, camping trip or picnic in the park or to cheer on their favourite team in the Labour Day classic.
