Sweep away winter blahs at AUPE’s March 17-18 Curling Funspiel

Posted January 27, 2006 in Union Updates and tagged with curling

EDMONTON – AUPE’s Curling Funspiel March 17-18 at the Spruce Grove Curling Club is sure to sweep away the winter blahs.

Green is the theme of the 2006 event, as AUPE kicks of the Curling Funspiel on St. Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17, with the first draw scheduled for 9 p.m.

“We encourage everyone — including those who have never curled before — to come out and have some fun,” said event organizer Gil Laflamme. “We want people to leave their serious game at home.”

The cost per foursome is $180, which entitles teams to play three six-end games. Participants may also take part in a silent auction and are eligible for door prizes, draw-to-the-button prizes and dinner on Saturday night following the conclusion of play.

Any proceeds raised from the event will go to a charity selected through a random draw held during the event.

Locals or companies that would like to help sponsor the event with cash or prize donations should contact Laflamme at 780-916-5100 or 780-930-3375. The registration deadline is March. 3 at 4:30 p.m. A maximum of 24 teams will be accepted.

To register, click on the Curling logo on this Website or the link at the bottom of this page, print, complete and submit the registration form by fax to 780-930-3392, c/o Rene Shaw. Registrations may also be mailed to Rene Shaw at 10451 – 170 St., Edmonton, AB, T5P 4S7.

Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of payment from the first 24 teams entered.
