St. Michael’s Edmonton ratification vote set for April 7
Edmonton – AUPE members who work at St. Michael’s Long-Term Care Centre in Edmonton will have the opportunity to take part in a ratification vote April 7 on a tentative agreement reached March 18 with their employer.
An important information meeting for members will be held April 5 at the St. Michael’s worksite at 7404 – 139th Ave. in Edmonton.
If the tentative agreement is ratified, the members of AUPE Local 047/016 will see their wages rise more than 10-per-cent over the life of the three-year agreement, said union Staff Negotiator Terry Agoto.
The agreement calls for a pay increase of 3.25 per cent in the first year of the agreement, 3.25 per cent in the second year and 3.5 per cent in the third year, Agoto said.
In addition, he said, the agreement includes several other improvements, including a letter of understanding on severance and the agreement by the employer to pay $75 registration fees in the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta for eligible members.
The AUPE bargaining committee is recommending ratification of the tentative agreement, Agoto said.
AUPE represents approximately 100 Nursing Attendants and Licensed Practical Nurses at the Edmonton continuing care facility.
