Sponsorship search underway for Second Annual AUPE Charity Golf Tournament, Aug. 26, 2006
EDMONTON – A call for corporate and union local sponsorship is underway for the Second Annual AUPE Charity Golf Tournament, scheduled to take place at Edmonton’s River Ridge Golf & Country Club.
“Our committee has met four times since prior to Christmas to begin the process of organizing another terrific event,” said Scott Pattison, Tournament Organizer.
“With spring just around the corner, we’re busy beating the bushes for primary and secondary tournament sponsorship.”
This year, tournament sponsorship packages were prepared ahead of time and included in AUPE Local and Chapter AGM packages, which were then sent out to all chairs.
“We’re extremely grateful for the support our Chapters and Locals gave us last year, and hopeful they will see fit to throw their support behind the 2006 event as well,” said Pattison, who also encouraged businesses and/or corporations requiring sponsorship packages to contact him directly.
This year, tournament proceeds will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in support of ongoing education and research efforts.
“This insidious disease has impacted so many Canadian families, including my own this year,” said Pattison.
Last year, a cheque for $9,100 was presented to the United Way from proceeds raised from the 2005 AUPE tournament.
The cost of participating in this year’s tournament is $110, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, an eight-ounce steak dinner, Silent Auction, raffles, and an opportunity to win hole-in-one prizes. A maximum of 144 registrations will be accepted this year with 2005 tournament participants receiving initial registration privileges until May 1.
The format for the Aug. 26th tourney will remain the same, Texas Scramble, which emphasizes fun, as opposed to competition.

If paying by Master Card or Visa, simply fax the registration form to AUPE Headquarters, c/o Rene Shaw, at (780) 930-3392. Cheques or money orders should be made out payable to AUPE, with Golf Tournament designated at the bottom of the cheque.
A $25 administration fee will be deducted as a result of cancellation requests made prior to Aug. 1, 2006. Refunds will not be honoured after Aug. 1, 2006. Refund requests will be facilitated following the Aug. 26, 2006 tournament.
