EDMONTON – Registration forms are now available to committed activists who seek to attend AUPE’s ninth annual Labour School in the spring of 2010. The event takes place February 28—March 4, 2010 at the Fairmont-Jasper Park Lodge, in Jasper, Alberta.

“This year’s program will continue to offer courses that support activists’ ability to enforce rights and entitlements in the workplace,” said AUPE President Doug Knight.

Labour School 2010 also introduces a new course, Direct Action, which aims to give members the tools to take collective action in response to current issues. Members will learn about building coalitions, letter-writing campaigns, speaking out at meetings and spreading the word through leaflets and posters about specific issues.

“Given today’s economic climate, this is a timely and important offering,” said AUPE President Doug Knight.

Other courses at Labour School 2010 include Advanced Steward Training, Duty to Accommodate, Organizing and Union Counseling, Leadership Training, and Practical Communication Tools for Union Activists.

Registration forms can be downloaded below and must be returned to your Local Chair by no later than October 2, 2009.
