Ratification vote results for AUPE agreement with government expected today
EDMONTON – Contract-ratification ballots cast by members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees directly employed by the Alberta Government will be counted today. Results are expected by late afternoon.
More than 20,000 AUPE members, members of Locals 001 to 012, were eligible to take part in the ratification vote.
The tentative agreement between AUPE and the government calls for a three-year collective agreement that includes across-the-board pay increases of 3.9 per cent in the first year, 3 per cent in the second year and 3 per cent in the third year, resulting in a compound total increase of 10.2 per cent over the life of the contract.
Votes will be counted throughout the day at AUPE Headquarters, 10451 – 170th Street NW., in Edmonton.
AUPE President Dan MacLennan, who is Chair of the union’s General Services Bargaining Committee, will be at union Headquarters during and after the vote count. MacLennan will be available for media interviews on the outcome of the vote.
