Provincial government members encouraged to complete online bargaining survey
EDMONTON – AUPE General Service members employed with the provincial government should take the opportunity to complete an online bargaining survey that will help its bargaining committee develop proposals for upcoming negotiations in 2007.
“AUPE has always prided itself on reflecting its members’ wishes at the bargaining table,” said union President Doug Knight, who has plans to sit down with Alberta’s new Premier, Ed Stelmach, in the new year, to discuss a variety of issues, including the upcoming round of negotiations.
“We are about to enter into a critical round of bargaining with the provincial government, and therefore it’s vitally important that we have the input of our members throughout this process.”
The collective agreement for more than 20,000 provincial government members formally expires on Aug. 31, 2007. Plans are underway to hold a General Service Bargaining Conference in Red Deer, Jan. 24-25, 2007.
“We would like all of our provincial government members to complete the survey by Friday, Jan. 19, the results of which will form the basis for our discussions at the Red Deer bargaining conference,” said AUPE Staff Negotiator Jim Petrie, who will lead the GSBC during the forthcoming round of negotiations.
