Provincial Executive Meeting Summary
Vice-President Thompson called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. Regular roll call was taken and observers were welcomed, including James Clancy, President, National Union of Public and General Employees. President MacLennan was briefly in attendance but then had to attend a last minute hearing scheduled at the Labour Relations Board. This was to deal with an application by the Capital Health Authority with respect to alleged job action taken by the Aspen Regional Health Authority members from Boyle, Mayerthorpe, and Swan Hills (Local 058/023).
This was a brief meeting to deal with any items required for Convention.
One was a missed Resolution which had not been submitted to the President’s Office but had been forwarded to the Executive. It was decided that this Resolution (dealing with Policy 5-2) would be forwarded to Convention and presented by the Finance Committee.
Executive Secretary-Treasurer Mardell and National Union President Clancy who had attended at the picket lines in Boyle and Mayerthorpe advised of the status.
The meeting recessed and reconvened on Sunday, November 06, 1998 at Convention at noon and recessed at 12:20 P.M.. This was again to deal with a Resolution which had been received from the Convention Floor. It was decided that this Resolution was a health and safety concern and would be forwarded to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
The meeting reconvened and adjourned at the close of Convention at 2:40 P.M.
The next Provincial Executive Meeting will be held on January 16, 1999.
