Province provides benefits backgrounder for direct Government of Alberta employees
EDMONTON – The Government of Alberta has published a backgrounder on benefits for the 22,000 AUPE members who are direct employees of the province.
The backgrounder, which is available on-line, provides information on Government of Alberta employee benefits that will change in July 2008.
Under the new benefits program, part of the three-year collective agreement between AUPE and the Government of Alberta that took effect on Sept. 1, 2007, employees will have the option of choosing between two or more levels of benefit coverage.
The changes are designed to give members more choice in their available health plan options.
Premium rates will be based on the level of benefits selected. More information will be published by the government in April.
The information in the package is relevant to members of AUPE locals numbered 001 to 012.
