EDMONTON – Alberta Premier Alison Redford will address AUPE’s 36th Annual Convention on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11:30 a.m at the Shaw Conference Centre, 9797 Jasper Avenue.

Delegates approved the amendment to the agenda to allow her to speak this morning.

This is the first time an Alberta premier has addressed AUPE’s Convention. Media are encouraged to attend.

“We’re pleased Ms. Redford made the request to speak to the more than 800 AUPE delegates attending Convention,” said AUPE President Guy Smith. “AUPE represents more than 80,000 working Albertans. More than 20,000 are directly employed by the government of Alberta.”

Close to 1,000 people, including AUPE delegates, observers, life members, guests, staff and media are in attendance at this year’s Convention.

AUPE’s Convention, “Taking a stand, standing together,” began on Thursday and ends Saturday at 3 p.m.
