HIGH PRAIRIE– Support staff at Northern Lakes College ratified a new collective agreement on Aug. 27, which was reached after only two days of negotiations. The two-year agreement is retroactive to July 1, 2012, and will expire on June 30, 2014.
“We’re very pleased that this has been such a productive and positive round of bargaining,” said AUPE staff negotiator Mac McNaughton. “We were able to quickly negotiate a deal that both sides were satisfied with.”
Highlights of the agreement include:
- A 2 per-cent-wage increase retroactive to July 1, 2012
- A 1 per-cent-wage increase Dec. 1, 2012
- A 3 per-cent-wage increase July 1, 2013
- Overtime for time in excess of a full work day spent on all employer business, including travel
Northern Lakes College provides post-secondary education opportunities to students via a network of 30 campuses across northwestern Alberta. AUPE Local 071/009 represents 133 support staff at the college, who are covered by the new agreement.
