Nomination deadline extended for inaugural Young Activists Award
There is still time to submit nominations for the inaugural AUPE Young Activist Award, as the nomination deadline has been extended until Sept. 12.
The award, which is described in the current issue of Direct Impact, will be presented to an AUPE member aged 30 or younger who is involved at their worksite or in their community in labour-related activities.
Nominees can advocate for others on the jobsite or work with the union to improve working conditions. They may also be members who work with labour to improve society and inspire others to take part in labour-supported causes.
To nominate a deserving young activist, download the nomination from the AUPE website from the link on the front page, or here. Nominations may be submitted by an AUPE member or group of members. Nominations do not have to be approved by an AUPE Local Council, but the Young Activists Committee encourages discussion at the Local Council.
The winner will be announced on the AUPE website once chosen, and the committee will present the award to the individual at his or her worksite.
