The meeting was called to order at with Sandra Azocar in the Chair.

ADOPTION OF AGENDA
(1) MOTION: To adopt the Agenda. Properly moved and seconded. CARRIEDBUSINESS ARISING FOM PREVIOUS MINUTES
- Discussion of Sexual Violence Workshop: was not what members expected
- Cookbook sales: $3,800.00, $4,000.00 from Convention, this money will be donated to Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters. Jan Reimer to come and accept cheque.
- Women’s Committee has a Facebook page; we need to do some P.R. for the AUPE, and Face Book pages. Need a link from AUPE page to Women’s committee Facebook page
- Dance Contest at Convention: So You Think You Can Dance – AUPE:
- 1st Willis Pollett ($100.00)
- 2nd Faye Rever ($75.00) as well as the most money raised
(1) MOTION: that we hold an International Women’s Day Celebration 08 March 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 pm Properly moved and seconded. CARRIED
We will also have a silent auction.
Admission will be $5.00 per ticket
NEW BUSINESS
ELECTIONS:
Chair: Sandra Azocar
Co-Chair: Amanda McMurren – Acclamation
Secretary: Lynn Bruce – Acclamation
Web Master: Amanda McMurren and Diane Johnson
- Prairie School for Women: will take place June 10- 14, 2012. Applications are due by March 6, 2012. We can send 6 women, 1 scholarship from Local 6. Application process: This is an advanced course, open to all female AUPE members. Applicants must be union activists. Applications to be returned by 06 March and will be reviewed by committee on 08 March 2012.
- Habitat for Humanity: We have $31,084.19; we need $50,000.00. Clarke is meeting with Habitat for Humanity in 2 weeks, and we will have more info then.
- The Women’s Committee is looking at hosting a Women’s Conference with a tentative date of 20 & 21 September 2012. Tentative name: Active Women: Balancing Home, Work and Community Life.
- With 2012 being an election year, we would like to bring the Candidates in for a forum. Will check to see if COPA and Public Interest Alberta are on board with this. Topics for questions: Child Care, Senior’s Care, Heath Care and Staffing Ratios, Public Services, Deregulation of Utilities, Labour Laws, Post Secondary Education, Universal Pharmacare. Candidates will be invited to give a 5 minutes presentation before the Open Forum. Try to have a short rationale re: Question for candidate.

Lynn: Domestic Violence and how it can pertain to OH & S
- Women’s Calendar: Pictures need better resolution. Would like to have the 2013 calendars ready to have at the Women’s Conference in September 2012. All attendees of the Conference will receive a calendar.
- Child Care Coalition: Sandra and Amanda to attend. Dianne will be the alternate.
Correspondence: We have been invited to attend the Memorial March for Murdered and Missing Women on 14 February 2012. The march is from Sacred Heart Church to City Hall
Resolutions:
8-4 Motion to recommend to P.E. that the Women’s committee attend the Domestic Violence in the Workplace conference M.S.C. Chair of the Women’s committee to meet with the O.H. & S. committee to see if we can send a couple of our members to their meeting. 8-5 Work with COPA committee to request a meeting with COPA chair to attend our next meeting. Sandra volunteered to do this. 8-2 Send a letter to Membership Services Committee and Education Department to change name from ”Counseling” to Peer Support. 8-3 Death Review Committee referred back to Women’s Committee. We will ask Jan Reimer to bring more info regarding this to our committeeMEETING DATE
2012 Women’s Committee Meeting dates: February 24, March 8, April 2, May 10 (Calgary), June 25, September 5, TBA October, November 13 and December 6.
