The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. with Karl Pedersen in the Chair.

2008 – 2009 WORKPLAN
Tabled to next meeting to be held March 13th 2009 –reviewed rough notes but waiting for Lorraine to advise.
NEW BUSINESS
MOTION: (MADE BY ROSE) To post our Locals Yearly OHS reports on the AUPE OHS STANDING COMMITTEE WEBSITE after being reviewed by the OHS STANDING COMMITTEE.

MOTION: (MADE BY KARL) To select a secretary as Lorraine has too much. Selection and Volunteer was Rose.
SECONDED: HAL GRIFFITH CARRIED
- Letters to Local Chairs and Chapter Chairs to be sent out requesting their yearly OHS report to be turned in to the AUPE OHS Standing Committee before their AGM.
- All the reports from the Locals and Chapters will be posted on the OHS Committee Website after being reviewed by the standing committee
- Local 3 gave a brief yearly report and this can be viewed on the Website
- Local 59 gave a verbal report and will prepare a report to be place on the Website
- Local 4 has report ready to be posted as well
- Letters to Local Chairs and Chapter Chairs to be sent out for the Sumlak Award, for presentation at their Annual General Meeting. Lorraine to make sure this is completed.
- Ask Lorraine to send her Convention Report to Mark so that he can put it on the Website.
DAY OF MOURNING:
MOTION: (MADE BY GERRY) That AUPE covers the cost of $55,000 for the Day Of Mourning Monument.

DAY OF MOURNING SEMINAR:
Theme will be PREVENTING VIOLANCE IN THE WORKPLACE
The day will go as follows:
9-9:30 a.m. Welcome, Introduction, Opening remarks Lorraine Ellis, Chairperson.
9:30-10:45 a.m. Guest Speaker: Glenn Lantz, Addictions Counselor AADAC – Overview of Violence
10:45-12 noon Day of Mourning Ceremonies – Honour Guard
12 noon – 1 p.m. LUNCH PROVIDED
1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Overview of a Workplace Violence Prevention Program- Worker’s Compensation Board (TBC – Randy Corbett)
1:3- – 2:00 p.m. Alberta Government Sexual/Workplace Harassment Policy – Dennis Malayko, AUPE H&S
2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Workgroups with Instruction to identify workplace violence issues at their workplaces and report back
3:00 – 3:15 p.m. REFRESH BREAK
3:15 – 4:00 p.m. Identifying methods of eliminating/controlling violence hazards at the workplace – report back
4:00 – 4:30 p.m. Where to from here – Local/Chapter action- Directions to Standing Committee – AUPE role.
GOA/AUPE OHS COMMITTEE:
- Time lines with GOA grid/Task force is on schedule.
- CASE versus COR is an absolute NO. The official position of AUPE as passed at Convention is that COR is recognized as the standard for auditing OH&S at the workplace.
- Next GOA Task force meeting is Feb 6, 2009 and according to Randy Corbett they would like more meat into the education program for all Alberta Government Employees. The next GOA/ AUPE meeting is March 10, 2009.
ROUND TABLE: There were no concerns raised. Meeting adjourned at 11:30am.
NEXT MEETING: March 13, 2009 at 9:30AM to be held at Headquarters.
