- Steward survey results: Jason will hand deliver to all Chairs at the Chairs meeting January 25th.

NEW BUSINESS
Steward Recognition: – There is no policy set up to deal with steward recognition. – Discussion and brainstorming about steward recognition. As of December 21, 2010, there are 1537 stewards. – Jason will present a rough idea about drafting a steward recognition policy at the Local Chairs meeting January 25, and then will follow-up at the next Chairs’ meeting for feedback.
3) Motion: For 2011 steward recognition, $30 per steward for a meal or gift card, with the decision being left up to each Local.

Corporate Wellness Presenter is unable to make this meeting.
Strike Pay Policy is tabled and has been forwarded to the Finance Committee.
Historical Sub-Committee: – Met for the first time January 19. Next meeting invite, Tom Anderson, who has extensive archive experience. – There are lots of photos that still need to be scanned and preserved. – Labour History course that will be designed for Labour School may use some of the material that they sub-committee find. – The idea of this committee is to get pictures and inspirational/historical stories and properly preserve and display them in AUPE offices across the province. – Next meeting for historical sub-committee will be February 2.
Member Discounts: – Bell still wants to offer a discount to AUPE members, but a new contract has not been finalized yet.

Called to inquire about rates, and rates they gave AUPE are not discounted and if so, not by 60%.

Discount Book: – 20, 000 copies are being printed. Will be ready for distribution January 31. – Revenue $21,950, Cost $12,978, Profit $8,972
MSC wants to thank Courtney for all her hard work!
Labour School: – 384 applied, 264 selected. – There will be 11 classes: 2x OH&S Level III, 2x Union Counsellor Training, 2x Direct Action, 2x Duty to Accommodate, 1x Advanced Steward, 1x Leadership, 1x Organizing. – Candidate and Campaign Worker was cancelled due to low interest.
PUB Store: – PUB Store – only $900 was made at Labour School 2009 when PUB store items were brought, so it may not be worth the cost and trouble of hauling everything up to this Labour School. – Labour School evaluation will include a question about whether the members would like to see the PUB store at Labour School. – Website pictures are not up to date and don’t necessarily reflect the current selection. Guy stated he will check with Vanessa about this. – Spring order has not yet been placed.
Historical:
Guy Smith in to speak with MSC. Winston Gerlick has offered to help with this task. As Winston is very experienced in this area, the sub-committee can seek direction from him.
Guy suggests developing a proposed budget for framing, preserving, etc.
Online Training:
MSC is requesting that E-Learning be made available to the members. Lynn said that at this time, the system is not capable of it, but she will bring it up at the next Education Department meeting.

15) Motion: To spend up to $1000 of the MSC budget to purchase AUPE merchandise to be given out as prizes at Labour School.
