AUPE HEADQUARTERS

The meeting was called to order at 1315 with Sandy Kyle in the Chair.

This was the first time we met as a Committee we brainstormed and elected a Secretary and Vice Chair

Brain Storming:

  • What AUPE Recycles
  • Recycling containers for all offices and meeting rooms
  • Shredding/Pulp which one is done since one ends up in the landfill and one doesn’t
  • The cost of printing (baseline of how much paper AUPE uses in one year) Printing/Photocopying
  • Impact/other publication access online
  • Tour Edmonton Recycling
  • Bike Racks
  • Committee members encourage using laptops to decrease the use of paper
  • Q&A Vanessa Bjerreskov regarding what we can/not do with the Web page
  • Reusable Placquards
  • Meet with Environmental Alderman
  • Discussed Sherperdia bush and the fall out, Committee will ask Christine Scotland past Committee member if she would write something for the Impact
  • Discuss with the AUPE Education department possibility of a course
  • AUPE Policy Manuel in whole or part on a disc or accessible online (contact the Legislative Committee)
  • Applications/Surveys should be available online (contact membership how they would like to be contacted) Need to approach David Climenhaga
  • Booth at Convention 2010
  • Work on plan for Future of Committee
  • Cell Phone Recycling Contact Bell to bring out their own bin at all AUPE activities
  • Union Made Verses Environmentally friendly why not both
  • Community Gardens (reclaiming empty lots)
  • Reusable v. one-use water bottles
  • Business of water

MEETING DATE

The next Environmental Committee meeting will be held on January 21st and 22nd, commencing at 01000 on the 21st and 0900 on the 22nd.
