HELD June 8 & 9, 2010 3rd Floor Banff Meeting Room
At AUPE Headquarters

The meeting was called to order at 0930 a.m. with Sandy Kyle in the Chair.

ROLL CALL
Present: Troy Merrill, Chris D’Lima, Marylou Savic, Willis Poulett, Iba Boda, Pauline Clarke, Sandy Kyle

Staff Advisor: Garnett Robinson

Absent: With regrets Marilyn Dorozio

ADOPTION OF AGENDA (1) MOTION: To adopt the Agenda. Properly moved and seconded. CARRIED

ADOPTION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES
(2) MOTION: To adopt the minutes of March 18th & 19th Properly moved and seconded. CARRIED

  1. New Business
    1. New Committee Member: Since Marilyn Dorozia resigned from committee Sandy has sent a letter to President Guy Smith so he can appoint another member (The Committee has suggested that Christine Scotland be appointed)
    2. Watched Video Blue Gold: World Water Wars and Discussed it.
    3. Clean up Alberta: Suggestion and discussion on what the Committee should take on as its next project
      1. River Valley Cleanup
      2. Adopt a Block
      3. Capital City Clean up
    4. Each member will explore each city that has an AUPE office in it and report back at the next meeting

    15. Key Note Speaker For Convention Topic being Water and How it effects us ( Water Shortages, Usages, and Privatization) – Sandy will contact the Executives
    16. Discussed where and when we have meeting
    17. Willis to investigate the price of t-shirt for the Committee to wear to Convention
    18. Discussed what happened to our Motions at PE and Convention
    19. Committee members will work on Policy statements and email it to Sandy and a motion on Water issues for members

      1. Table set up for taste test for water test.
      2. Email will be sent to the Convention Committee

(4)Motion:
Properly Moved and Seconded
The Environmental Committee order t-shirts for the members of the Committee and note book with pen made from recycled material for an approximate cost of $2800.00

Old Business

  1. Motion 1-03-2010 was split and the second part referred back to the committee for renumbering from Provincial Executive
    1. Vanessa Bjerreskov came to speak on the difficulties of putting the AUPE Policy & Procedures on line
    2. Motion 4-03-2010 – updates from Locals

(5) Motion:
AUPE Policy & Procedures is made available online for all members of AUPE and the public.
With a recommendation and direction from PE and the Ledge Committee to decide what sensitive areas (if any) are not to be included.
Rationale:
Reducing the paper usage. Other unions Have Policy & Procedures including lock-out and Strike policies are available on line in whole.

Date of next meeting: August 30th & 31st 10 am in Red Deer. Carpool where possible
