Members on hand for Bill 1 amendments
Members of AUPE Locals 003 and 006, along with President Guy Smith and staff OH&S Representatives Dennis Malayko and Randy Corbett, were at the provincial Legislature Oct. 30 to support proposed amendments to Bill 1. Presently the bill, the Workers Compensation Amendment Act, makes Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder a presumptive illness for emergency responders like firefighters and police officers, making it easier for them to access help through the WCB. The proposed amendments, introduced by NDP MLA Rachel Notley, would broaden the scope to include social workers, Correctional Peace Officers and other emergency health workers.
