The Ministerial Panel on Child Intervention has entered its second phase. Members who have direct experience in this area may decide they want to make a submission or presentation to the panel.
The department has indicated that it is encouraging staff who want to share their thoughts to make them known to the panel.
All staff who present or submit to the panel are subject to an authorization letter that lays out some protections. The letter is signed by the Deputy Minister, Children’s Services and authorizes employees of the government to disclose information to the panel and describes in detail how staff are protected from subsequent repercussions resulting from information they may share.
It is, however, important to note that the authorization does not allow members to disclose any information contrary to the provisions set out in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act or the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
Any members who wish to make a submission or presentation are encouraged to first contact the chair of Local 006, which has been closely monitoring the panel’s progress.
