Lunch-hour information picket scheduled for Friday at Good Samaritan’s Mill Woods facility
EDMONTON – AUPE members employed by 11 Alberta Good Samaritan long-term care facilities will hold an information picket Friday, Oct. 28 to support their demands for a fair collective agreement.
The information picket will take place Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Good Sam’s Mill Woods facility, 101 Youville Dr. East in Edmonton (across the street from the new Mill Woods Police Station on Main Street).
Pizza and refreshments will be available for picketers.
Good Sam’s proposals include reductions in health benefit coverage and weekend premiums and shift differential.
The employer’s wage proposal is also below industry standards, said Luvaha, and includes a one-per-cent lump sum payment for 2004 and two-per-cent increases for 2005 and 2006.
AUPE represents auxiliary nursing care and general support employees of six Edmonton-area Good Sam facilities plus centres in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Rocky Mountain House, Evansburg and Hinton. The approximately 700 employees currently come under seven separate collective agreements.
