Local 118/016 approves tentative agreement with City of Cold Lake
COLD LAKE – After more than a year of tough negotiations and the involvement of a mediator, Local 118/016 members voted overwhelmingly in favour of their tentative agreement with the City of Cold Lake.
“This agreement has several key improvements,” said AUPE negotiator Ken Cutrell, who assisted the bargaining team with negotiations. “We reached this agreement in mediation, but it was not a mediated settlement, which is something both sides can be proud of.”
The three-year deal, which runs from Nov. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2013, includes a first-year signing bonus of $1,100 for full-time employees ($550 for part time employees), a second-year signing bonus of $1,600 for full-time employees ($800 for part time employees), and a 3.25-per-cent pay increase in the third year. The safety boot allowance increased to $175 per year, and call-back pay increased to a three-hour minimum.
AUPE represents over 100 employees of the City of Cold Lake, which is located 240 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
