Honk if you care about seniors
Local 047 members cheer as passing motorists honk in support for their information picket outside Revera Inc’s Miller Crossing long-term care facility in northeast Edmonton on Friday.
Scores of AUPE members, residents and their families marched under a scorching sun to draw attention to the multinational corporation’s unreasonable demands at the bargaining table. The employer has insisted on no wage increase, reducing its contribution to employee health benefits (effectively cutting pay) and eliminating job security provisions in the collective agreement.
AUPE is taking Revera to mediation this month. Information pickets were held last week at three locations: Revera South Terrace, Revera Jasper Place and Revera Miller Crossing.
