GSS radio ads take on Alberta Health Services

Posted February 01, 2012 in Health Care, GSS

EDMONTON – Radio advertisements in support of AUPE’s 22,000 General Support Services members in negotiations with Alberta Health Services are now on the air across the province.

The ads star real front-line AHS employees explaining how their work helps patients get healthy and challenges AHS to treat them with respect at the bargaining table.

Two additional radio advertisements are expected to hit the airwaves in the coming weeks.

“This media campaign showcases the important work Alberta Health Services GSS members do every day to help make and keep Albertans healthy,” said AUPE President, Guy Smith.

“These health care employees are equal and important members of Alberta’s health care team and they deserve a contract that recognizes that,” said Smith.

In January, GSS members rejected a mediator’s contract recommendations for the group’s first post-transition collective bargaining agreement by 95-per-cent. The group is now back in mediation with AHS.

The radio ads are airing on 630 CHED in Edmonton and 770 CHQR in Calgary. The ads will begin airing on rural radio stations, Feb. 13.

Watch for GSS television ads to launch on all major Canadian television networks, Feb. 20.
