Global Visions Film Festival set for Nov. 1-4
EDMONTON – The Global Visions Film Festival is back for its 26th year in Edmonton, Nov. 1-4, with several films of interest to union activists.
Downtown at the Paramount on Jasper, the Metro Cinema at the Citadel Theatre and the Stanley Milner Library Theatre, the festival will show 42 films in four days.
This year’s presentations include a diverse range of issue-based films on such topics as labour, privatization, environment, and health care.
These include:
24 Days in Brooks (11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3 at Stanley Milner Library Theatre), the story of how people of diverse backgrounds worked together for dignity, respect and change during the strike at Lakeside Packers in Brooks.
The Big Sellout (7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2 at the Paramount Theatre), which tells the stories of the victims of privatization politics dictated by anonymous international financial institutions in Washington D.C. and Geneva.
Tickets are on sale now. Festival Superpasses and Six Packs are available at Tix-On-The-Square, Remedy Café, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Earth’s General Store and the Carrot, the Festival office, or on the Global Visions Website
