SHERWOOD PARK – AUPE members employed by Strathcona County have a new collective agreement today after being informed on Friday that the employer ratified the agreement. The employees accepted the agreement following a vote on Aug. 3.
“We are very pleased with this agreement,” said AUPE staff negotiator Terry Agoto. “It represents the results of a productive and positive round of bargaining, and we’re pleased to see it ratified by both parties.”
Highlights of the two-year agreement include:
- A 3 per cent wage increase in each year of the contract.
- Improvements to holiday and vacation accrual.
- Double-overtime effective Jan. 1, 2013.
- A commitment by the union and the employer to review the benefit plan within 60 days of ratification of the tentative agreement.
The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees is Alberta’s largest union, representing close to 80,000 working Albertans.
