Disappearance of Stephanie Stewart still a mystery four years later
EDMONTON – It has been four years since Stephanie Stewart vanished from an Athabasca fire lookout tower near Hinton, Alberta.
AUPE Executive Secretary Treasurer Bill Dechant has reaffirmed the union’s $10,000 contribution to the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
The reward was offered in conjunction with Alberta Sustainable Resource and Development, the government ministry Stewart worked for.
“AUPE members continue to feel for Stephanie’s family, friends and colleagues,” said Dechant, “we want to see some closure in her disappearance, her family deserves peace.”
“We know that there is someone out there that knows something, I encourage the public to call in with any information they may have,” added Dechant.
The RCMP “K” Division is treating this case as a homicide investigation.
Stewart went missing on Aug. 26, 2006 while working a shift at the lookout tower. To date, no one has come forward.
