Locked out Points West Living seniors care workers are hosting a community film screening and discussion in Cold Lake. Please join them on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6pm for a film screening of Numbers on a Page: The seniors care crisis in Alberta, at the Best Western Cold Lake Inn (4815 52 Street).
The film and discussion to follow will be an opportunity to explore the roots of problems in our seniors care system, including the increase of taxpayer dollars going toward private, for-profit operators like Points West Living (PWL). Instead of negotiating respectfully to address employee concerns including short-staffing, arbitrary scheduling and concerns about training, PWL has locked out its employees at their Cold Lake facility since Dec. 16.
Speakers will join the discussion from Friends of Medicare, AUPE and the union’s Anti-Privatization Committee as well as representatives of the locked out PWL Cold Lake seniors care workers.Resources:
