AUPE intervention means employers will assume cost of pension transfer
EDMONTON – Employees of the Alberta Cancer Board and Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission will not have to pay for any costs associated with their pension being transferred on April 1, thanks to actions taken by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.
Changes coming to LAPP and PSPP commuted values on April 1
EDMONTON – Both the Public Service Pension Plan and the Local Authorities Pension Plan have announced changes to the basis for calculating commuted values. The Canadian Institute of Actuaries requires these changes be implemented effective April 1, 2009. It is important to note these changes are mandatory and apply equally to all defined benefit pension plans in Canada.

EDMONTON – The board of the Alberta Local Authorities Pension Plan Corp. acted improperly last year when it voted to change the rules governing operation of the LAPP Board, a Court of Queens Bench Justice ruled today.
