General Support Services mediation-arbitration has started between the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees and Alberta Health Services.
AUPE calls off strike, picketers protected, negotiations resume
EDMONTON – Alberta Union of Provincial Employees and Alberta Health Services reached an agreement that will see health care employees across the province return to work with a guarantee “there will be no legal action or workplace discipline taken against them for job action that occurred on Feb. 16, 2012.”

AUPE President comments on health care support worker wildcat strike
EDMONTON – “We learned this morning that some General Support Services members employed by Alberta Health Services walked off the job in a wildcat strike,” said Alberta Union of Provincial Employees President Guy Smith.

Employer disrespect prompts Alberta-wide pickets in support of AHS GSS bargaining
EDMONTON – Information pickets in support of 22,000 General Support Services (GSS) employees engaged in difficult negotiations with Alberta Health Services (AHS) will take place at locations around the province, tomorrow, Thursday. Feb. 16.
AHS mobilization in Calgary
AUPE Vice-President Glen Scott took part in a mobilization meeting at Alberta Health Services’ East Calgary Health Centre in Calgary. Members from both General Support Service and Auxiliary Nursing Care, all of whom will be in bargaining in the next few months, attended.
