Bargaining Update - Local 047/043 Devonshire Care Centre

Posted July 05, 2012 in Health Care and tagged with devonshire, dib, local 047

To AUPE members at Devonshire Care Centre:

On July 2, following the strike notice to Devonshire Care Centre on June 29 by AUPE, Minister of Human Services Dave Hancock issued Ministerial Order No. 2012-063.

The order established a Disputes Inquiry Board to develop recommendations for settlement between Devonshire Care Centre and AUPE. It also temporarily removed members’ legal right to strike.

AUPE President Guy Smith sent a letter to Premier Alison Redford July 3 in regard to her government’s intervention in the legal bargaining process at Devonshire Care Centre in Edmonton.

We are meeting with the Disputes Inquiry Board July 6, 13, 16, 17, 18 and 19. Based on the recommendations of the DIB report, we will plan our next steps.

If it were up to employees of Devonshire Care Centre, there would be no need for a Disputes Inquiry Board.
We appreciate your patience and resolve as we await the results of the DIB report.

Please contact a member of your bargaining committee if you have any further questions, comments or concerns.

A copy of President Smith’s letter to Premier Redford is available on AUPE’s website,
