FIRST AGREEMENT REACHED

Your bargaining committee is pleased to inform you that members voted on July 24 to ratify the tentative agreement reached with the employer on July 13. The employer ratified August 2.

This first collective agreement, which expires June 30, 2018, includes substantial increases in wages and a retro pay lump sum to current employees, paid within 45 days of ratification.

Terminated employees who were employed between Dec. 1, 2015 and July 1, 2017, are also eligible for lump sum retro pay. Former employees may request this payment in writing by September 22, 2017, via email at kendyl.galbraith@covenantcare.ca.

The collective agreement also includes provisions for short and long-term disability, along with a $500 increase to the flex spending account, to $800 per year.

Members have been without a collective agreement since first organizing at Place Beausejour in 2012. Bargaining with the current employer began when Covenant Care took over operations from Covenant Health on Jan. 1, 2015.
