Bargaining Update – 118/009 Strathcona County
Late in the afternoon on July 17, your bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement with Strathcona County. The two-year tentative agreement represents the results of a productive and positive round of bargaining that commenced in February 2012.
Highlights of the tentative agreement include:
- A 3 per cent wage increase in each year of the contract.
- Improvements to holiday and vacation accrual.
- Double-overtime effective Jan. 1, 2013.
- A commitment by the union and the employer to review the benefit plan within 60 days of ratification of the tentative agreement.
The bargaining committee is recommending acceptance of the tentative agreement.
A membership meeting will be held on July 25 at 5:15 pm at the Glen Allen Recreation Complex, 199 Georgian Way, Sherwood Park. Prior to the meeting, a detailed summary of the tentative agreement will be posted on the AUPE website. It will also be made available to members at the meeting.
Voting will take place on Aug. 3 between 6:30 am and 5:00 pm at the SPSY Building, SPSY meeting room, 370 Streambank Avenue, Sherwood Park.
