Posted November 20, 2009 in Union Updates and tagged with executive

EDMONTON – AUPE’s six vice-presidents have each now been assigned regions of Alberta for organizing and worksite mobilization.

AUPE President Guy Smith announced the assignments today.

The assignments are effective immediately and will continue until April 1, 2010.

The VPs’ territory assignments are as follows:

  • Sandra Azocar – Northern Alberta
  • Erez Raz – Southern Alberta
  • Jason Heistad – Central Alberta
  • Phillipia Bates Renouf – Edmonton
  • Glen Scott – Calgary
  • Sandy Kyle – Floater, to cover off the other VPs.

Smith and Executive Secretary-Treasurer Bill Dechant have made themselves available to all regions of the province based on needs, issues and requests.

VPs will attend scheduled meetings and other events in their regions.

To ensure the assigned VP is available to attend an event in your area, please email Executive Secretary Cheryl Austin in the AUPE Executive Office at c.austin@!aupe.org.

Delegates to AUPE’s 2009 Convention voted on Oct. 22 to increase the number of vice-presidents to six from four, in part to allow VPs to have enough time to attend component meetings and visit worksites throughout the province.

Delegates also voted to have VPs attend component meetings, promote the union, maintain contact with union officials and attend community events within an assigned territory.
