AUPE to unveil new memorial tomorrow at International Day of Mourning ceremony
EDMONTON – Alberta Union of Provincial Employees President Doug Knight will unveil a memorial sculpture at tomorrow’s ceremony marking the International Day of Mourning for Workers Killed or Injured on the Job.

WHY: To honour workers who have been killed or injured on the job
The event is scheduled to take place at 10:45 a.m. at the union’s Headquarters at 10451 – 170 Street N.W., Edmonton.
Union members throughout the world use the Day of Mourning to remember workers killed and injured on the job, the impact on their friends, colleagues and family members, and to recommit themselves to fighting every day for workplace safety.
Leaders from other unions and uniformed members of the AUPE Local 003 Correctional and Regulatory Services Honour Guard will take part in the ceremony. In addition, Edmonton sculptor Ann Gurney, who created the memorial, is expected to attend.
