AUPE members urged to join locked-out Telus employees at 6 p.m. TWU rally tonight in Edmonton

EDMONTONAUPE members in Edmonton are urged to come out and take part in a rally in support of members of the Telecommunications Workers Union who have been locked out of their jobs by Telus.

The rally will take place at 6 p.m. tonight in Telus Plaza, at Jasper Avenue and 100th Street in downtown Edmonton.

“It’s very important that AUPE members and others come out to show their support for our fellow union members in TWU,” said AUPE President Dan MacLennan.

“Every member of a union in Alberta has a stake in this struggle with this giant, anti-union phone company,” MacLennan said.

The TWU set up picket lines in Alberta and British Columbia last Thursday — a day ahead of the giant phone company’s plan to coerce employees into accepting a bad deal by imposing a contract.

For more information on the rally, contact TWU Business Agent Len Steparyk at 444-6945 in Edmonton or by email at len.steparyk@twu-canada.ca.
