AUPE Local 071/008 and Portage College exchange bargaining proposals
LAC LA BICHE – Bargaining committees for AUPE Local 071/008 and Portage College exchanged contract proposals last week and more bargaining is expected soon.
The local represents approximately 120 support employees of the college at campuses in Lac La Biche, St. Paul and Cold Lake.
The two sides met on May 24 and are scheduled to meet again on June 20 at the latest, said AUPE Staff Negotiator Jim Petrie, who leads the local’s bargaining committee.
“Both sides in this round of negotiations are optimistic that a quick and mutually satisfactory resolution is possible,” Petrie said.
Local 071/008 members will be notified in a timely fashion of any significant developments in bargaining, Petrie said.
