AUPE golf tournament raises close to $10,000 for United Way
EDMONTON – A total of 171 golfers enjoyed a memorable day at AUPE’s first charity golf tournament on Aug. 27 — and raised close to $10,000 for the United Way in the process.
Participants from across Alberta teed off last Saturday in the union’s first golf tournament under warm, sunny skies at the River Ridge Golf and Country Club in Edmonton’s beautiful river valley.
More importantly, however, said tournament organizer Scott Pattison, preliminary estimates indicate proceeds from the event will be close to the $10,000 mark.
“It’s really remarkable to think that 171 people, sponsors and volunteers could come together for one day, have a terrific time, and have such a positive impact on their community,” said AUPE President Dan MacLennan, who took part in the tournament.
