AUPE Executive Committee candidates have until Sept. 10 to submit Impact articles
EDMONTON – Candidates for AUPE’s six-member Executive Committee have until Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, to submit short statements for publication in the pre-Convention issue of Impact, the union’s member publication.
Because 2007 is an election year, there will be an election for President, Executive Secretary-Treasurer and four Vice-President positions during the 2007 Convention, which will run from Oct. 25-27, 2007.
AUPE allows candidates for Executive Committee positions the opportunity to have a statement of no more than 500 words published in the fall edition of Impact, which is distributed to all AUPE members. AUPE will also publish a photograph, if supplied by the candidate, with the submission.
In order to qualify for publication of their statement and photo in the quarterly AUPE publication, candidates must have declared their intention to run more than 45 days prior to the Convention. In 2007, that deadline falls on Sept. 10, although candidates are encouraged to file their submissions to Impact earlier if possible.
