AUPE delegates elect new vice-presidents from Claresholm and Calgary
EDMONTON – Delegates to AUPE’s 36th Annual Convention elected Susan Slade from Local 041 and Carrie-Lynn Rusznak from Local 001 as the union’s two new vice-presidents in a byelection held this morning at the Shaw Conference Centre.
“This is a time when we need to increase our mobilization not just with our members but the communities they live and work in,” said Vice-President Slade, a Licensed Practical Nurse from Claresholm.
“I believe in AUPE’s vision of mobilization and I have such respect for our members,” said Vice-President Rusznak, a legal assistant with the Calgary Crown Prosecutors’ office.
Both vice-presidents thanked delegates, their families and their locals for their support.
Slade and Rusznak will join President Guy Smith, Executive Secretary-Treasurer Bill Dechant and fellow Vice-Presidents Erez Raz, Karen Weiers, Glen Scott and Jason Heistad on the Executive Committee.
Elections for all Executive Committee positions will be held at AUPE’s 37th Annual Convention next year.
