AUPE continues to represent AADAC members during judicial review of AHS consolidation

EDMONTON – The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees will continue to represent Alberta Health Services members formerly employed by the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission, following a stay of a decision to consolidate health sector employees into four province-wide bargaining units.

The Mar. 5, 2010 stay will allow a judicial review of the Alberta Labour Relations Board decision to proceed, without a change in bargaining unit representation.

AUPE will continue to represent the interests of its AADAC members during the judicial review of the Board’s consolidation decision,” said AUPE President Guy Smith.

“I understand that many of our members are anxious to see this situation resolved,” said Smith.

“The board has noted that these decisions affect a large number of workers, and cannot be easily undone once they are final. We agree with that observation and will continue working in the interests of our members while these matters are considered.”
